A wedding photographer’s process is made up of many logistical steps: preparing the gear, capturing the images, organizing the photos, creating back-ups, editing, etc. But it’s much more than that, too. At least for anyone who approaches their work with intention, like myself!
I aim to capture authentic moments in time that couples can not only cherish but relive. Whether it’s a formal portrait or an emotional candid, I want you to be able to look back at that image and feel that moment all over again. I want it to transport you back to your wedding in beautiful detail.
That process starts with communication and connection and ends with an heirloom collection that authentically captures your day.
Here’s a peek into how I make this happen.
Open Communication
From the moment you reach out, giving you an exceptional experience is one of my top priorities. So you can always expect consistent communication, expert support, and guidance. I’ll work with you to ensure your needs are met and that I know what’s important to you.
We’ll talk so I can learn all about how you envision your day. And I’ll take time to understand the little elements and personal details you would like infused throughout your wedding that will hold meaning for you.
The lines of communication are always open. I’ll check in at various points throughout our time together, and meet with your planner to craft a solid timeline with photography in mind. This ensures you have plenty of time to get all the photographs you want and enjoy your wedding day with your loved ones.
Engagement Session
Looking and feeling natural in your photographs comes from feeling comfortable and enjoying yourself. And feeling comfortable comes with practice in front of the camera. So I always recommend having an engagement session to get a glimpse of how we’ll work together on your wedding day. During this time, we’ll get to know each other, and you’ll have an opportunity to experience what it’s like in front of the lens before the big day.
I’ll offer a mix of prompts and gentle direction during the engagement session, resulting in genuine laughter and authentic moments. You’ll get some beautiful portraits of the two of you that you can use for your save-the-dates and gifts. And by the time the wedding day arrives, you’ll know what to expect and be able to relax and enjoy the experience.
If you cannot do an engagement session, we can still get to know each other over Facetime. Dish out your wedding planning details, ask me questions, and let me know what’s on your mind. I want to make sure you feel heard and supported every step of the way.
Capture and Edit
After photographing hundreds of couples, I’ve learned how to capture their unique stories in a timeless way. By using the film medium, I can photograph in true-to-life detail. So that when you look at your images, you’ll see colors and textures as they were on your day. And the natural light will bring out the crisp, delicate details in every frame.
I also personally edit my photos in a timeless and vibrant style that brings you right back to your beautiful day. You’ll not only recognize it visually, but you’ll feel it emotionally. The story of your day will come alive through these photos and stir your memory.
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a bit of my process and how I approach photographing you and your wedding. And I do hope to! Please reach out if you would like to know more.
